Stitching for Literacy Update

A bookmark from the Accents, Inc. 2009 collection. If you’re in New Orleans, plan to stop in and see Gayle–and take her a bookmark for 2010! Don’t you love this ambigram design?

The Monday “What have you done lately?” accountability post, where I announce my Needle and Thread: Stitching for Literacy program promotion goal for the week and fess up on last week’s goal.

Last week, my goal was to get my class description and teacher bio for the Bookmark Collectors’ Virtual Convention to The Bookmark Collector before Christmas.

It was in Alan’s Inbox on Christmas Eve. Now I need to send a logo.

I’ve been stitching samples of possible class pieces, but I have yet to settle on one. I’m pretty excited about the direction it’s taking, though. I’m trying to include a variety of fibers and stitches since these are collectors, and I want to give a rather broad overview of the craft. On my current model I’ve used the following:

It’s got cross stitch, blackwork, and a few specialty stitches (waffle, compound cross, eyelet).

It’s on plain white aida, and I’m thinking I might be able to include an additional part on canvas.

My goal this week is to settle on a design, including colors, and make a materials list. I want to have a picture of it for you next week. Eeeeek! I said it; now I have to do it.
