Operation TBD

In case you haven’t been paying attention to the widget in the sidebar, the readergirlz Operation TBD is tomorrow! On April 15, publishers, YA authors, teen readers, and regular Jo’s like you and me will perpetrate random acts of reading kindness by leaving YA books in public places where teens can find them, pick them up, and take them home to read. Last year, the big drops–those sponsored by publishers–were made in hospitals. This year, the big drops are being made on Native American tribal lands.

Do you have a YA book you can drop somewhere to encourage teens to read?

Print a bookplate from the readergirlz website and glue or paperclip it to the book. This explains to potential readers that the book is up for grabs and they should feel free to take it.

Share a great book and news about the readergirlz all at once–what a gift to bestow on an unsuspecting teen!

I’ll be dropping Peeps, by Scott Westerfeld, last month’s rgz guest author, and North of Beautiful, by Justina Chen Headley, one of the readergirlz co-founders and divas. One of these days, I’ll tell you about this book. It’s one I will read again, buy for my niece for her birthday this summer, and recommend over and over.

Of course, they both include rgz clip bookmarks.

There’s a Post-Op Party Thursday night beginning at 9 p.m. EST on the readergirlz blog. Unfortunately, I won’t be there due to no Internet access at that time. Sigh. I hope someone here will attend in my stead. I’ll be back there soon!
