Needle and ThREAD

Needle and ThREAD Local Events

Had a meeting at the Loussac Library in Anchorage on Friday. We chose dates for our Needle and ThREAD: Stitching for Literacy Make-It/Take-It outreach events. Yes, thats events, plural. We’re having two.

The first will be held Sunday, October 14th, from 2-4 p.m. in the conference room on the first floor of the Loussac Library. The second will be held Saturday, October 20th, from 2-4 p.m. at the Muldoon branch. If there are any Anchorage readers here (that would be you, Beck!), I hope to see you at one of these. Volunteers from Arctic Needleworkers (local embroidery guild) will be there to demonstrate and teach. Karen from Arctic Needle will be there, as, of course, will I. We’ll provide everything you need to start stitching a very cool bookmark.

I finished the pattern we will use at the events. It’s a symmetrical ambigram. I really, really, really like the design, but it is so simple I couldn’t bring myself to publish and sell it. So I’m giving it away at outreach events. In fact, I am making it available to any shop that holds an outreach event during the Bookmark Challenge. If you want this pattern, maybe you could volunteer to help your local shop owner organize an event!
