A bookmark by Bev.
The Monday “What have you done lately?” accountability post, where I announce my Needle and Thread: Stitching for Literacy program promotion goal for the week and fess up on last week’s goal.
My goal last week was to create photo release forms Bookmark Challenge participants can use when taking photos of bookmark contributors and recipients.
Done and posted to the Stitching for Literacy Yahoo Group.
Also last week, I worked on matching fourteen of the thirty-two libraries/schools on my Would-Like-To-Receive-Bookmarks list with participants. Thirteen of these schools are in New York City. Tawny at Where Victoria’s Angels Stitch has agreed to serve as many of the NYC schools as she can, and I’m hoping she can serve them all. What’s the point of dreaming small? We’re reaching out to the Metrostitchers, a loosely organized group of NYC stitchers headed by Theresa, half of the designing team at Arachne’s Silken Web, and will reach out to ANG and EGA chapters in the area as well. Still much to do in that arena, but the ball is rolling.
Readers, can you help Tawny, Theresa, and a NYC student? Might you be able to stitch an extra bookmark for them? One of the unused models for the Bookmark Convention will head to Tawny soon to get her collection started.
Remember to take a picture of yourself with your bookmark before donating it. (No dates, Bev!) You’ll be able to enter those pictures into a contest.
My goal this week is to contact all the guild chapters in the NY/NJ area and ask them to help Tawny and Theresa get bookmarks to the thirteen NYC schools. I also want to work on matching the remaining eighteen enthusiastic libraries.
And you, what’s your goal for the week? Did you say “Stitch a bookmark for a New York City student”? Yay for you!

After seeing several pieces of Bev’s work and her comments on your blog, I love this Bev, and would enjoy meeting her. What a great person!
Ooh, Bev! Pretty! Jen, I’d be glad to send one or two bookarks.
Isn’t she, though? I’m guessing most of us have e-friends these days. I wonder how many we’ll meet in person?
