Stitching for Literacy Update

The Monday “What have you done lately?” accountability post, where I announce my Needle and Thread: Stitching for Literacy program promotion goal for the week and fess up on last week’s goal.

It’s August third, and I’m back. Did you miss me?!

I’ll share some of our recent activities in the coming days, but it’s an Update day, and I’m ready to get moving and set a new goal for the week.

When last we spoke (Huh, should that be “bloke,” as in blog-spoke?) I was trying to get an article and/or bookmark pattern into a magazine and planning some sort of Challenge contest for The Stitchers’ Village.

Well the magazine stuff is still up in the air (I submitted it), but I was asked to write an article for the Needlework Shoppe newsletter. I sent it out yesterday so it would be in the editor’s Inbox this morning.

I expect to talk with Jo about The Stitchers’ Village contest Tuesday or Wednesday. I have a list of ideas to share with her. Do any of you have suggestions? What kind of Bookmark Challenge contest would you like to see? I’m always open to suggestions.

This week, my goal is to attend the August meeting of the Arctic Needleworkers EGA chapter. Our Greater Pacific Region President will be there, and I’m hoping to talk up the Stitching for Literacy program.

I wrote an article for the spring issue of the EGA NeedleArts magazine, and I sent e-mails to all the regions, but I don’t seem to have gotten anyone’s ear, exactly. It’s a four hour drive for a two hour meeting, so I don’t attend as often as I’d like, but this seems like a good reason to burn some fossil fuels, and I look forward to hanging with our fabulous members.

And speaking of meetings…if you’re ever visiting the state on the second Sunday of a month, you should come be our guest at the meeting. You are officially invited.
