I’ve mentioned before that some changes are coming to both the Funk & Weber and Stitching for Literacy websites. They’re slower than I anticipated (isn’t everything?), but they’re on their way.
One change I’d like to make is to create a book club here. We’re here. We’re readers. What do you say we read a book together so we can talk about it? Maybe we can encourage our stitching friends to read (or listen to an audio book version) along with us. Maybe we can encourage our reading friends to stitch a bookmark while they listen to an audio book. Maybe we can design and stitch a motif for every book we read to create a S4L Year of Reading sampler. I don’t know; I’m just throwing ideas out there. It all sounds like great fun to me.
Is this a good idea, or am I all wet?
What do you think? Anyone interested in helping to lead a book club here? I’d make you an author on the blog, and you could post questions to kick off discussion, say, a question or two (or however many) a week for one month. Or maybe we just discuss for a week. Maybe we can take turns leading. How about this: If you agree to lead, you get to pick the book for the month and how long the discussion will last. What a deal! I’ve found lots of book club resources that I’ll share with anyone who cares to lead.
I’d like to give this a shot. What do you say we choose a book to read this month, and then discuss it in November. Anyone care to suggest some possible titles? Adult books, kid books, anything goes. If I don’t get suggestions, I’ll put on my bossy pants and pick one. You know I will.

I LOVE this idea! Let’s go for it. I will be glad to help. I’ll think of a few books that I think might be good.
My answer to your question re good idea or all wet (in view of the picture) is simply- yes. To both.
Jen, I’d like to participate, just not lead at this time.
I’m in!
Hey Jenny…I figured out S4L all by myself.
I’d love to do a book club thing! I wouldn’t mind leading once in a while. Would old, classic books count? I just read a treasure that had me laughing out loud (very socially uncool) in the airport of all places. It was the old version of “Cheaper by the Dozen.”
@Becca : 🙂
@Shell: Woot!
@Chrissie: Any books at all are up for consideration, but we’ll want to be sure we can all get it. I’m probably the weakest link in that sense.
Is the Cheaper By the Dozen book you refer to the one I likely read and loved as a tween? I may actually have that in my arsenal. I’d love to re-read it.
Want to lead discussion on that in December?
