Ridiculous rumors of human/animal hybrids abounded, but that wasn’t the goal or what was happening. It was lame, irresponsible reporting. I have zero patience for that kind of reporting.
The human-animal cell hybrids enable research and testing when human cells aren’t readily available. I have no problem with it, provided animals are treated humanely. Much can be learned from studying animals and cells of all kinds.
