DayZ Dozen Blog Hop
Lazy Girl, Joan Hawley, has announced a Blog Hop featuring 12 projects from 12 quilt designers, using fabrics from the new DayZ Deux collection from LakeHouse Dry Goods. What’s this? You say your what hurts? Um, no. It’s like this: Every day from March 5-16, 2007, Joan will reveal a new quilt design on her [...]
All Work and No Play
…makes Jen’s a dull blog. It was a tremendous day, as far as I’m concerned, but it’s not much to write about. Work, work, work, but every bit a pleasure. First there were Spiderwick puzzles, then there was The Needlework Nutshell. Parts of that were already written, but I put it together into a whole, [...]
Let There Be Night Stitchlings
Mike is just about finished with a new Let There Be Night Stitchling pattern. Like the new Puzzle Pattern, this one has been in the works for years, but it had…um, problems. We got some really good laughs from it, then put it away and moved on, creating Night Howl, Lovely Night, and Night Lights instead. Well, Mike returned to the old pattern recently and took another stab. Problem solved! It needs some tidying up, but will be ready to stitch soon.
Feels Like Spring???
When we left for the open house at Arctic Needle on Saturday, it was 18-below. Clear, clear, clear and oh-so-beautiful, but brrr! The temp did get above zero in the afternoon, but not much. Lots of moose along the way. The cold doesn’t seem to bother them; their bodies are furnaces. I wonder why ours [...]
Busy, Busy, Happy!
It was a wonderful, productive day! Lots of writing and puzzling, then an evening of stitching which, granted, involved twice ripping the same area, but was nonetheless fun. I’m so excited about how the piece is coming together! I’m also pretty darn tired.
Score!
It was a good mail day: I got the free copy of The Thing About Georgie, by Lisa Graff, that I won last week, and I got several copies of Spider magazine with one of my games in it. It took a week to get the book, and 4-and-a-half years to get the magazine!
Success!
Over the weekend I drew up a calendar for the Spiderwick activity books and made a plan. My goal, as stated over at the 6 Writers, 1 Story blog, is to create 6 activities a day. For the Nancy Drew books, my goal was 10 a day, but that proved just about impossible. I reached that goal once, but it was July; days are longer then, and I didn’t have any other pressing work demands. That’s not the case now.
Visiting Needlework Shops
Arctic Needle in Anchorage, AK, is having an Open House/Show-and-Tell on February 24th. I’ll be there, weather permitting.
Puzzle Pattern/Spiderwick (repeat)
I’m in the thick of it now: I’m either stitching the new puzzle pattern, or creating activities for the Spiderwick books. Stitching…Spiderwick…Stitching…Spiderwick…
Podcasts For Stitching
Back on February 7th, over at Six Writers, One Story, Chrissie wrote about her cousin, Lars’s, podcasts being discussed in the NY Times. He’s a high school history teacher in NY, and has recorded a series of lectures on 12 Byzantine Rulers. I began listening to them today, and look forward to the rest of the series.
