New eBook: Beyond the Bed

Stitching for Literacy blog reader, friend, and S4L Book Club leader-volunteer, Chrissie, has just released a new eBook, Beyond the Bed: Ways to Help Others When You are On Bed Rest

First of all, Chrissie speaks from experience: she’s spent an inordinate amount of time on bed rest.

She’s also very creative. I’ve read the book, and I’m impressed with the number of ways she’s come up with to reach out and be helpful even when confined to bed—or the couch. Clearly, she used her time on bed rest well. I know someone who’s considering knee and foot surgeries which will take her off her feet for many weeks. I plan to get her this book when she takes the plunge.

Can you guess one of the ways Chrissie suggests reaching out to help others? Come on, think! Oh, yes—she suggests embroidering bookmarks for Stitching for Literacy! Woot! She suggests other useful crafting projects, as well.

The eBook is available at Amazon (for $.99!), but you don’t need a Kindle device to read it: you can download the Kindle program onto any computer—or iPhone, iPod Touch, BlackBerry, iPad, or Android. The program is free, and there are links to download it in the right sidebar on the Beyond the Bed page.

Check it out. If you know someone confined to a bed, this might make a great gift. Being useful makes us feel good and helps us heal. We know stitching is therapeutic; I suspect everything in this book is.

Congrats, Chrissie! This is a Brilliant Idea.
