Yay! Picture This Plus has offered up a prize for the 2007 Bookmark Challenge. Details are not being shared at this time, but I think it’s safe to say it will involve their Colorscapes over-dyed fabrics.
I’m a huge fan of these fabrics. I first used them for the Colorful Critters patterns. I’ve used them for tags and bracelets, and I’m using them for bookmarks. While they look great in these small projects, they absolutely sing on large ones. They become part of the design. This is one of the things I love about working on fabric: the fabrics themselves are beautiful. They aren’t merely something to cover with beautiful fibers (though I’ve been known to do that anyway), but rather are lovely things in and of themselves that we embellish with embroidery.
I have only recently gotten to know and love the opalescent fabrics Picture This Plus calls “Crystal.” Flash, glitz, and sparkle aren’t really my style, in spite of all the bright colors. But Marilyn (one of the PTP owners) kept singing their praises, and convinced me to “just try it.” Nothing like a taste of your own medicine, eh? So I did: I tried them. Well, shut me up, they are wonderful! I’m compelled to go back and do a new round of tags and bracelets on sparkly fabrics. They rock! (The pink Read ambigram bookmark is on a Crystal fabric.)
Thanks Marilyn and Shari for supporting the 2007 Bookmark Challenge.
