Meet Chrissie Pollock:
When I was a child, my parents were forever telling me to hurry up in the bathroom. It wasn’t for the normal reasons. No, I was taking a long time in there because I was reading the back of shampoo bottles.
I grew up and somehow managed to marry a non-reader. How could I explain the delights of getting lost in a book? I don’t know that he’ll ever truly understand, but at least he humors me. My darling husband has bought me pen lights for reading in bed at night, clip-on lights that attach to a hat brim for other late night readings and a variety of other gadgets so I can read in the tub, in the yard and in the shade in comfort.
On one family camping trip, I almost panicked because I had my books, but forgot to pack any sort of light. Fixed that problem with my cell phone. There’s nothing quite like camping out under the stars and reading a good novel by cell phone light.
