Nata Bird Sanctuary provided great sightings of wildebeest, flamingos, and more, and at Elephant Sands we camped where elephants strolled.
Hippos, hippos, hippos. Hippos in water; hippos on land. Hippos acting like hippos, yawning, water scooping, sparring, and doing that nasty thing they do.
Safari Self-Drive #2: Khwai River
Wildlife sightings to and on the Khwai River more than make up for a horrendously bumpy road, a flat tire, and a shortened visit.
Safari Self-Drive #1: Return to the South Gate Road
Our first day trip out of Maun, a safari self-drive out the sand road to the South Gate of Moremi National Park, gave us some nice views of wildlife.
Eating elephants. Elephants eating. Get a close-up view of an elephant’s trunk as it pulls grass, aligns it, and “washes” it before eating it.
Africa, Take Two: The Boro River
We are back in Botswana! Bring on the adventure and wild animals! Our first outing is on the Boro River in the Okavango Delta.
