I'm a pediatric occupational therapist working in the schools on he Navajo reservaton. I used to stitch a lot, stopped for many years (child) and started again about two years ago when I had a torn meniscus repaired and couldn't take weight on my leg for six weeks. I love to read and write. I haven't tried children's lit, because I think it's extremely hard to do well. I dabble with weaving and I make knotted cord jewelry with a Celtic emphasis.
What do you think of Smith’s sense of place and his ability to place you into it? I felt that Africa was one of the characters. Did others feel this way?
