March is National Craft Month. If you actually need an excuse to craft, here it is!
The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race began over the weekend. It’s too soon to know if anyone is actually leading. I’m a little ticked off that I have to “register” to see the full standings on the Iditarod Web site. It’s free to register, and I really haven’t looked closely to see what they do with email addresses they collect, but, in general, I don’t like address harvesting. I already get too much email that I don’t want. I want to see the Iditarod standings. I don’t want email from the committee. So I’ll get my news from the Anchorage Daily News, or KTUU, or the Associated Press. Take that, Iditarod people.
Mike is building our bathroom vanity. Yay! You know what comes after this?! The kitchen counter, cabinets, and SINK! Running water right in the kitchen. Can you imagine?!
Running water, as I know it.
I’ve been without running water in my kitchen for most of my adult life. It doesn’t bother me–I honestly don’t notice–but when I finally have it, I expect I’ll enjoy it. Don’t get too excited, though. Chances are good he won’t get to the kitchen counter before he has to move on to another project, so we’ll stay focused on the bathroom vanity for now.

What in the heck?! Jen, you don’t have running water in your kitchen?? I can’t imagine… and let me tell you, we’d do without if I had to actually go outside to fetch some LOL

Yep. It’s true. We have it in the house, though, and that’s more than we had for years.
We live in an area where water is iffy: there are a lot of dry, super-deep, and low-flow wells. Lots of people haul water. They have tanks in their truck beds and large holding tanks at home.
We got tremendously lucky with our well. I really didn’t want to haul water here. It’s one thing to do that in the Bush (which I’m happy to do), but something else to do that in civilization (which I’m not happy to do).
If you could have just one, would you rather have running water or electricity?
