About 1/3 of our bookmarks are going to a Christian school that teaches K-12. All the bookmarks with a Christian theme will be given to that school as well.
Another 1/3 are going to a public elementary school. They have an “All-School Reading Month” planned around the book “How Full is Your Bucket,” which emphasizes kindness to others, actions that fill their buckets and yours. We thought the kindness of the needleworkers who participated in the Challenge was a perfect example of kindness to others. The bookmarks will be a great addition to their special reading month.
Finally, about 1/3 are going to our local library’s adult literacy program. The program focuses mainly on new Americans for whom English is a second or third language. The coordinator is sure that the bookmarks will be treasured by the learners. I will be presenting those bookmarks tomorrow at the Grand Opening of a brand new library here in Fargo!

As part of the 2007 Bookmark Challenge, Gayle at Accents, Inc. taught beginning cross stitch to two 4th grade classes at a local school. “What’s awesome about this is that it is taught as an art class (creating with thread) and that the students (9 year olds) loved it,” says Gayle.
