The Monday “What have you done lately?” accountability post, where I announce my Needle and Thread: Stitching for Literacy program promotion goal for the week and fess up on last week’s goal.

Last week, my goal was to create a flyer that anyone can print and share with a local library, school, or needlework shop to spread the word about the Needle and Thread: Stitching for Literacy program. At Shelly’s suggestion, I went with the color one, after all. Surprise–I like color!

This is an exercise in “finished is better than perfect,” something a business friend preaches. At first, I wanted it to look more like this site. Then, after some fiddling and dissatisfaction and an urge to decorate cookies, I wanted it to be done, so I let go of my “perfect” idea and went with something I could actually do in under fifty hours.

This is the only link to it just yet. I figured you could help me tweak it before we commit to it. Should it include more info? What? I look at it as something to get the main idea across and where to find more info. Too much info, and it can get confusing, or worse, no one will bother to read it.

This week my goal is to contact Laura at The Handwork Studio. I love what The Handwork Studio does. Part of me wishes I were doing the same thing, with them or somewhere else; it’s a wonderful program that teaches all kinds of fiber arts to kids.

I’m hoping they’ll participate in the program, having their students stitch bookmarks, maybe collecting and donating some, maybe forming a read-and-stitch club.

I’m also working on a super-secret, super-fun, super-challenging, and somewhat silly promotion idea. It’s labor intensive, and I have no idea if it will even work after all the labor, but I’m going to try. Cross your fingers and wish me luck.
