Stitching for Literacy Update

The Monday “What have you done lately?” accountability post, where I announce my Needle and Thread: Stitching for Literacy program promotion goal for the week and fess up on last week’s goal.
Last week, my goal was to have another go at a plan for achieving our Outreach goals and to get a new bookmark design sketched.
I’m happy to report I had some success on both fronts. Woot! Better still, it was fun. Woot-woot! Especially the designing part. It’s been a while since I’ve put colored squares on a grid.
This week, my goal is to answer an e-mail that could result in a whole new kind of promotion for the program. If it pans out, it will scare the behoozies out of me. It will put me in a position guaranteed to make my knees pound, my heart sweat, and my palms knock; i.e. I will be all out of sorts. Some ridiculous part of me, perhaps around my eponychia, thinks it could be fun.
So I will screw up my courage, choose my words carefully, and reply to this e-mail.

Your fingernail disease? That’s a new one to me. Cute bookmark though. The mere thought of a to do list scares me.

Hrmph. You’re right, of course. Eponychia is the name of a fingernail disease, but it’s also the plural of eponychium. I mean it solely as more than one eponychium.
The blueberry crumble was excellent! The topping was unexpectedly chewy, and I really like the toasted almonds. Next time I try that recipe, though, I’ll try whole wheat flour and upping the oat quantity. I’ll also use tapioca in the blueberries instead of corn starch (1/2 Tablespoon per cup of blueberries is my rule of thumb based on trial and error).
I didn’t eat any of the buckle that headed south this morning, but it’s a tried and true recipe from the Anchorage Daily News years ago.
Clearly, I’m using the order of the list as a guideline and not a rule. Good thing, too. On my not-at-all-scary To-Do list for tomorrow is Blueberry Cobbler. Since the sourdough pot wants attention, too, I typed “sourdough blueberry cobbler” into the search engine this evening and found out that, yes, indeed, such recipes exist. Of course they do.
Then I got to thinking about my local cookbooks, and discovered in Cooking Alaskan a recipe for Blueberry Sourdough Dumplings.
Oh, yeah. That’s the one!
This weekend has Betty written all over it. I’ve never made one, never had one.
