Karen from Arctic Needle is teaching Girl Scouts to embroider bookmarks. The bookmarks the girls stitch will be donated to the Arctic Needle collection to be distributed during Children’s Book Week.

Gayle holds a Bookmark Stitch-In the first Saturday of every month. Bring fiber, needle, and scissors. Gayle will provide ground material, pattern, instruction as needed, motivation, enthusiasm, and gratitude in exchange for a bookmark donated to the Challenge.
Young stitchers are welcome but need to be accompanied by an adult. Do you know a young person who would like to learn to stitch? Visit Gayle the first Saturday of any month.

Every bookmark donated to The Stitchers’ Village earns an entry into their contest. Winners will be randomly drawn on May 7, 2010. The Grand Prize winner will receive a complete set of Dinky Dyes Silk Embroidery Thread in a Stitching for Literacy zippered tote. Five runners up will receive their choice of twenty-five (25) skeins of Dinky Dyes 6-strand embroidery silk and a Cat’s Whiskers Design Studio chart or kit.

Loose Thread Stitchers
Loose Thread Stitchers is holding a contest everyone can enter, no matter where bookmarks are donated.
Submit an image of your completed bookmark(s) with your name, state, and the pattern designer to Colleen [AT] LooseThreadStitchers [DOT] com for a chance to win prizes from a collection of $500 worth of stash. Each finished bookmark equals one entry to win, and there is no limit to the number of entries you can have.
Winners will be announced on the Needle and ThREAD: Stitching for Literacy blog on May 10.
