The Ducharme Challenge
I showed you this picture a few days ago; it’s a noodle I found while searching through my stash. When I discovered it this time, I envisioned it as a bookmark, and pulled it out to work on it.
Here it is now. I combined it with the earlier Needlework DNA bookmark idea, and here is […]Challenge Deadline
Breaking news: Roads near independent needlework shops participating in the Needle and Thread: Stitching for Literacy 2009 Bookmark Challenge are backed up for miles as talented and generous needleworkers across the country make the journey to deliver their hand-stitched bookmarks before the day is over.
The bookmarks will be donated to libraries and schools and awarded […]Contest Reminders
Just four more days to get your bookmarks to participating shops. I have no idea how many have been collected; I’m dying to find out!
I want to remind you that entries for the Funk & Weber Designs Bookmark Design contest must be received by May 7. Design your own bookmark using elements from any […]Discovery
I came across this during a stash search today:
I kinda sorta recall stitching it, but I don’t recall a specific purpose for the piece. I think I was just trying out a double blanket stitch, or whatever the stitch might be called. I tend to make up stitch names.
I’m an avid noodler (needlework doodler), and […]New Bookmark Patterns
As you probably know, I invite designers to join the Stitching for Literacy campaign by designing bookmarks to raise money for literacy programs. I mention the Kidlitosphere on this blog quite a bit. It’s a wonderful collection of kid-lit bloggers that have joined forces to support one another in blogging, promoting books and literacy, and developing careers. Members are organized, active, enthusiastic, supportive, […]Puzzle Contest Answers
This subscription bookmark-discussed sidebar style in will be box the discussed in finishing the May Needlework Nutshell. (Just thought I’d mix it up a little.)
I have never gotten so many urgent requests for puzzle answers. The Hinkie Pinkies puzzle from The Needlework Show is driving more than a few people to distraction. How fun is […]The Needlework Show
It’s almost here. The Needlework Show opens next week, on April 15.
The Needlework Show is an online trade show. Like the wholesale trade shows organized by The National NeedleArts Association, only retailers can make purchases. Unlike other wholesale trade shows, consumers can browse and participate in various drawings and games, including the now traditional […]Ribbon Alternative
Back in February, thanks to Alan at the Bookmark Collector blog, I discovered an unassuming blog post that gave me an idea I can’t let go.
Do you remember friendship bracelets? Did you ever make one? I loved them, and I made dozens of them, often making up new patterns. I wore several at a time […]Anchorage Outreach
Funk & Weber Designs, Arctic Needle, and the Arctic Needleworkers embroidery guild hosted the third annual Bookmark Make-it-Take-it at the Loussac Library on Sunday in conjunction with the 2009 Bookmark Challenge.
Attendees included several mother/daughter pairs, like Shawna and Rebecca.
Jean (right), already a stitcher, used the opportunity to introduce her friend, Julie, to the craft.
Guild members, […]
