I’m noticing the swift descent into darkness these days. The sun doesn’t peek above the mountains until 9:30 a.m., and I’m turning on lights a little after 5 p.m.

I’m often not ready for seasonal changes, but I’m ready for this one, and I’m welcoming the darkness. Quiet darkness is conducive to writing.

Holiday lights are up. The colored lights on the ceiling stay up year-round, but are only turned on when it’s dark. The “friendly lights” in the windows are only out during the dark season. It’s lovely and peaceful. Sigh.

PS – I salvaged the cranberry sauce. I opened the jars, added sugar, and boiled away about 20% of the liquid. The sample was delicious and thick. All the jars sealed, so we’ll save them for Holiday enjoyment.
